Interprovincial
Crossings EA Study
identifies Kettle
Island for next
bridge,
says no western
bridge needed for
next 20 years
Hi folks:
As you probably have
heard by now, the
consultants for the
Interprovincial
Crossings EA Study
held a media
conference today to
announce their DRAFT
technical
recommendation that
Kettle Island (in
the east end) be
carried forward for
Phase 2 of their EA
Study, and that no
river crossing
corridor in the west
be identified within
the 20 year planning
horizon.
Congratulations to
the Bay Ward
Community Response
Committee and
particularly to the
Crystal
Beach-Lakeview
Community
Association for
their hard work on
this issue.
While this is good
news for our
community, it is not
(yet) final, as
these are the
consultants' DRAFT
technical
recommendation and
must still go
through public
consultation before
being accepted by
the Study's
proponent (NCC/MTO/MTQ/Gatineau/Ottawa).
I have attached the
Notice of the Public
Consultation Session
No. 4 (September 24
at Lansdowne Park),
so it is important
to participate to
tell the consultants
that they have made
the right choice in
the west. I have
also attached a copy
of the
public
presentation the
consultants will do
at the Public
Consultation
Session. Public
comments must be
sent in to the Study
consultants by
October 10. More
information about
this Interprovincial
Crossings EA Study
