Hi folks:
Traditionally in
Bay Ward, I
co-host with Bay
Ward community
groups an
all-candidates
meeting for
residents in Bay
Ward. For this
election I have
booked the
auditorium at
Woodroffe High
School (on
Georgina Ave.)
for Thursday
October 9 for 7
pm. Please
confirm your
candidate's
attendance. As
has been our
previous
practice (based
on time
constraints),
this
all-candidates
debate is
limited to
candidates from
registered
parties
(Conservative,
Liberal, NDP,
Green parties,
to date).
I will send you
the formal
procedures for
this event, but
it will follow
the traditional
process of
opening
statements,
questions from
the audience
(answered in
rotation, all
with the
opportunity to
respond), plus
closing
statements -
please expect
the first
question to deal
with issues that
have been raised
by the City of
Ottawa i.e.
support for the
City's Rapid
Transit Network,
funding for
infrastructure
(particularly
sewage overflows
to the Ottawa
River), and
support for
social housing
in our
community. As
well, there will
be tables set up
in the foyer for
each campaign.
With your
confirmation of
your candidate's
participation in
this event
advertisements
will be placed
in community
newspapers, the
participating
community
associations
will promote
this event, and
of course the
media advised.
I look forward
to your
participation in
this fundamental
part of our
democratic
process.
